A very attractive, good quality 2 bottle inkstand; the rectangular stand with pen
reservoir having cast shell border and stood on 4 ball feet. The 2 cut glass bottles
having silver plated lids and collars.
This is a very fine Inkstand, particularly well made, heavy for size. I always worked
on the basis that the trumpet mark on Dixon pieces came in about 1885, which I had
to refresh to confirm as my first thoughts were that the piece dated about 1850 because
of the good construction and quality in silvering.
Circa: 1885 - 1910
Full J dixon marks with trumpet - 8790 - and a further mark I am unfamiliar with
Good Condition - silver plate in good condition - cut glass bottles good with the usual
chips to the hidden glass locators on the base (certainly in no way distracts and is
usual to find) - would benefit a further cleaning (The stand was completely black when
I acquired it I have cleaned it but a further cleaning will bring it up a further level)
Buyer will be completely delighted with this item
