Dates to the 19th century, probably French or German.A little over 5inches high.Stands on a naturalistically coloured round base. Hands clasped inside wide sleeves. Beautifully modelled blue pants and facial features. A board around his neck - hints ominously at his headless future. Stopper in the form of the removable head.Handpainted black 2 under the stopper and 38 under the base. Incised 431.Condition is very good.
