Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica sardine dish and cover decorated with shells and seaweed on cream ground. Rope twist border around the dish edge. Three fish on waves on top of the cover, one forms the handle. Pink interior. Cream underside with three stilt marks and a painted mark. Three stilt marks to underside of cover. Dish: Slight wear around the rim. Slight rubbing to stand corners. Some staining to interior and underside. Repaired hairline to stand rim. Cover: No restoration. Flake to fish handle. Kiln effect: some kiln soot to the waves. 7.5ins by 6.75ins, 3.5ins high
