Circa 1890 Majolica glazed dog whistle modeled in the form of a bird. Its tail forms the blow hole, and the sound comes out of its beak. When blown, it emits a piercing, high pitched shrill. Decorated with mottled cobalt, ochre, brown and green glazes. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Some scratching to right side of tail. Restored flakes to beak and tail. 3.25ins high, 3.5ins long
