Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica muffin stand and cover, decorated with sprigs of apple blossom on turquoise ground. Handle on top of cover in the form of two branches bound together. Pink interior with stilt marks and vent holes. Mottled center to stand with an ochre border. Mottled reverse. Three stilt marks, impressed mark and number 5 in reserve to the underside of the stand. Good. Slight wear to the flowers and leaves. Cover: No cracks. Small chip to flower. Flake to underside of rim, and small flakes around the vent holes. Kiln effect: couple of small firing pits. Repaired hairline to rim. Stand: No restoration. No hairlines. No chips. Kiln effects: two shrinkage cracks to the inner rim of the stand; craze lines to the turquoise of the stand; a few specks of kiln grit in the glaze just outside the inner rim; glaze pops to the mottled center, and to the underside. 10ins diameter, 5.5ins high
