Circa 1890 Mafra Majolica Palissy wall pocket with palm leaf molding acting as hanging support at top. Moss to front of wall pocket. Impressed ''M. MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' maker''s mark and three stilt marks to reverse. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Small flake to end of each palm leaf. Some small flakes to molding at the bottom of the pocket, and to the moss. Kiln effects: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the molding at the bottom of the pocket; slight brown glaze run to the palm leaves; glaze accumulation to the reverse. Old restoration to the end of right palm leaf. 8.5ins high by 4.75ins wide
