Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire spill vase in the form of two zebras, one recumbent and the other standing, in front of a palm tree. With a front legs molded free. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Shredded clay decoration to the ground. Similar piece illustrated figure a3126, page 277, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No hairlines. No chips. Very slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: craze lines to the reverse; shrinkage crack above the standing zebra''s rump. Retouching to left ear of standing zebra, palm leaves and ground. One of recumbent zebras front legs restored. 10.75ins high
