Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire spill vase modeled as a horse and foal. Horse standing in front of a tree with the foal recumbent on the ground below. Stream running past in front. Two legs of the horse molded free. Dull gilt and base line. Similar piece illustrated figure 2990 page 255, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No hairlines. No chips. Some paint losses to ground behind the foal and a few to spill rim. Kiln effects: shrinkage line to spill top; stained crazing to reverse, staining to underside.
