Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire spill vase modeled as a girl and boy sitting beneath a tree, tree rises up behind them to form the spill. Boy has a russet and white spaniel on his lap and a yellow bird on his arm. Shredded clay decoration to ground and tree. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Painted mark to underside. Generally good. No cracks. No chips. Flake to ground at front. A few small paint losses. Very slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effect: shrinkage line to lower base edge at front; some staining to craze lines to underside and reverse. Restoration of bird''s head. Small restored chip to spill rim & boy''s hat. Retouching to hair and boy''s nose. 7.5ins high
