Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire watch holder/spill vase in the form of a peach colored castle with pierced tower. Central hollow forms the watch holder. Shredded clay decoration. Dull gilt base line and decoration to the steps, doors, windows and front wall. Similar piece illustrated figure a3201, page 285, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No cracks. Some small flakes and a bruise around lower base edge. Slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: craze line to the watch holder; crazing throughout. Restored chip to spill rim. Restored flake to tower roof. Retouching to doors. 7.75ins high, 6.5ins wide
