Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire spill vase in the form of a fisherman and his girl, sitting on a rock in front of a tree. The boy has a fish net over his shoulder and gestures romantically, with a fish, to his girl. She holds a basket of fish on her lap. Shredded clay decoration to the tree. Dull gilt base line and decoration. No book reference found. Generally good. No restoration. No hairlines. Three small chips to reverse of spill rim. Two small flakes to lower base edge at side. A few paint losses to the basket rim. Very slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack to underside; piece of kiln detritus to base front; crazing. 13.25ins high
