Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire spill vase modeled as an Irish setter standing before a tree with a bird in it''s mouth. Three legs of the dog are molded free. Shredded clay decoration to the ground and spill. Dull gilt around spill rim. No book reference found. Good. No cracks. Two tiny nicks to front lower base edge, not visible when upright. A few tiny chips to shredded clay to spill. No flakes. Some rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze to the top of the base. Repaired hairline to front right ankle and bird''s tail. Retouched paint losses to the black enamel. 5.5ins high, 6ins wide
