Victorian, circa 1860 Small Staffordshire spill vase in the form of a peach colored horse, with a recumbent black foal on the ground below. Modeled on a naturalistic ground, with a tree behind. Three legs molded free. Shredded clay decoration to the ground and tree. Pink spill interior. Dull gilt around the spill rim. Decorated all round. Vent hole to reverse. Good. No hairlines. No chips. A few minor paint losses to reverse. Some rubbing to gilt. Slight wear to the foal. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack to reverse of branch; shrinkage line to the underside. Retouching to black enamel on foal. 6.5ins high
