Victorian, circa 1860 Small pair Staffordshire spill vases in the form of a black horse standing in front of a tree. Legs and tail molded free. Orange interior to spill. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Decorated all round. Good. Slight rubbing to gilt. Right facing: Slight wear to horse''s back and side. Kiln effects: stained shrinkage crack to reverse of base; a piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to side of spill. Old restoration to spill branch and horse''s front left leg. Left facing: Good. Slight wear to reverse of spill and horse''s rump. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack to reverse where horse joins spill. Restoration to front left leg, top of base and spill rim. Retouching to paint losses. 6ins high
