Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire spill vases in the form of a young boy and girl, both sat in a tree and looking down over a spaniel and pup, lying outside their kennel. Shredded clay decoration to the tree. Dull gilt base line and decoration. Generally good. Some rubbing to gilt. Boy: Minor flaking to underside. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack to underside; small firing hole to front of base. Repair to base of tree, and around waist and neck. Restored chip to side of base. Retouched flake to spill rim. Girl: No restoration. A few paint losses to the tree, skirt, shoes and hat, and both spaniels. Kiln effects: over glazed shrinkage line to base front; shrinkage crack to underside; two small firing pits to reverse. 7.25ins high
