Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire spill vases in the form of a hunter standing beside a tree. One of the hunter''s is holding a bow, and has a black and white dog sat by his side. The other is holding a stag upside down by its hind legs. Modeled on shell and scroll bases. Pink interior to spills. Old, dull gilt decoration. One leg of each hunter is molded free. Decorated all round. Similar piece with dog illustrated figure 1809, page 52, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. Rubbing to gilt. With dog: Two shallow chips to the underside. One small paint loss to hair. With stag: One small chip to underside. Paint losses to hair. 12ins high
