Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire spill vases modeled as a boy sat with a begging dog beside him, and a girl sat with a cat beside her. They hold bowls on their laps. Both pets and the children''s feet rest upon cushions. Wheat sheaf style spill vases. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Orange spill interior. No book reference found. Generally good. Slight rubbing to gilt. Boy: Tiny flake to hat brim. Kiln effect: overall crazing which is stained on the front. Repaired crack to reverse of base. Restored chip to spill rim at reverse. Retouching to the dog''s ear. Girl: Some flakes to reverse and upper base edge. Paint loss to her shoes. Kiln effects: overall, stained crazing; glaze pops to her hair; shrinkage line to reverse between spill and girl''s head; shrinkage line along the mold join to right of spill.
