Victorian, date cipher for 1868 Minton Majolica vase modeled in the form of a putto holding a large sheaf of corn. The putto holds a scythe in one hand. An overturned basket of hops lies on the ground. Pink ribbon decoration to the upper base edge. Turquoise interior and underside. Impressed maker''s mark ''MINTON'' and date cipher for 1868 to underside. Generally good. Small chip to lower base edge at front (just visible from the front). Small flake to one toe. Very slight wear to basket rim. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack to rim and another to reverse where putto''s robe drapes over the basket; slight staining to putto''s right cheek and leg. Repaired hairline to rim. Restored chips to rim and another to leaf on headdress. 11.5ins high
