Victorian, circa 1890 Mafra Palissy Majolica vase which features swan-like bird handles, entwined snakes to one side and a seated warrior lady to the other side. Colouration: brown, gray, green, are predominant. The piece bears makers marks for the Mafra pottery. Book reference not found. Good. Some small flakes to the rim. Kiln effects: glaze run to the brown; kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior. Filled chips to the base. Remodelled tail to one bird. Retouched flake underneath the snakes 17.7ins high, 14.6ins wide, 10.2ins depth
