SEG, Paul Revere Pottery Large Speckled Satin Blue Vase - For Sale

SEG, Paul Revere Pottery Large Speckled Satin Blue Vase
Price: $495.00
For Auction is a large Art Pottery Vase made by "The Saturday Evening Girls" or "Paul Revere Pottery Company" of Boston, Mass. This splendid form I would call a "Tapered Wide Mouth Shoulder Vase". The Vase is quite large as it stands 10 1/2" tall and is 5 3/4" in diameter at the shoulder. The mouth or opening of the Vessel is 3 1/4" in diameter inside measurement and 4" outside.

The Vase displays a very deep and rich Country Blue Glaze with black speckling throughout. The Glaze is a Semi-Gloss Glaze and it is clearly a SEG original Glaze. This Vase is considered a hand thrown piece of Art Pottery as you can feel the finger grooves on the inside. The Vase is quite heavy as I would guess it weighs 6-7 pounds. This form is a real favorite with the Arts and Crafts Aficionados.

The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few very minor scratches in the glaze and can only be seen at an angle when held to the light. The piece is unsigned but there is no mistaken this to be Saturday Evening Girls (SEG) or Paul Revere Pottery Vase. Paul Revere Pottery is a later extension of the SEG Pottery Company. SEG pieces were usually signed in fired black ink on the bottom by the Artist's (2) Initials and dated Month-Year such as 11-24 for November 1924. The later pieces after 1926 only carried a Paul Revere Pottery Label. In this case I believe this to be a later period SEG or Paul Revere Pottery piece. The label simply came off, probably from cleaning over the years.

I had a smaller version of this Vase that was sold awhile back. That one is clearly marked with the "Paul Revere Pottery" circular mark and is dated 9-25 in black ink. I can send you pictures if you desire. You will clearly see this large pot is definitely made by The Paul Revere/SEG Pottery Company of Boston, Mass.

For those of you who want to learn more about SEG/Paul Revere Pottery I will attach a link to a web page that gives a brief but very descriptive information about them. Here it is http://www.journalofantiques.com/Jan06/feature.html just click on this link and it will bring you to it.

This is a quality solid piece of Art Pottery. I'm quite sure the Buyer will be extremely pleased with their purchase. This piece was made Circa, 1926-1930.
