For Sale I have a very Lovely piece of Art Glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is a wonderful Gold Iridescent Flower Vase and it is done in Tiffany's highly sought after Gold Favrile Iridescent Glass. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 6 9/16" tall and has a diameter of 4 1/2" at it widest point.
The Vase displays a very Strong Gold Iridescent finish. The Vase looks metallic but it is glass. You can see vivid hues of Fuchsia and Platinum Blues. The Vase is a very nice shape. I would consider this a "Jeannie Bottle" shape. It is Decorated with raised ribbing that starts at the top lip and swirls ever so slightly down the neck of the vase into the middle of the bulbous section. There are little raised Pigtail prunts at the end of the Ribbing. Some are better defined than others. There is also a pattern of 2 high in the Middle and 2 Lower on the outside of the 2 inner lines. The ribbing appears to pick up from the bottom of the Pigtail prunts and extends towards the bottom circular foot. The Ribbing is very faint but you can see it when held to the light. There are a total of 10 ribs.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issues is some Carbon in the Glass on the inside lip looking in. This is Factory as it was made this way. This cannot be seen when displayed. The Vase displays that counter sunk polished pontil. The sign of Quality Art Glass. There is a very tiny area with iridescence loss the size of a pencil tip near one of the prunts. The vase is properly signed with the etched initials L.C.T. for "Louis Comfort Tiffany" as well as the Prefix number G2869. This Prefix letter G means this piece was made in the year 1897.
This is a quality piece of Art glass made by Tiffany Studios and is considered an early piece. The Gold Favrile, Aurene Iridescence is just outstanding!! This is a very nice example of this form and color. It is amazing that this vase is in the condition it is. It is 113 years old. This is also a not so commonly found Decorated Vase either. The small salts in this pattern command a strong dollar as they usually sell for $325-$350.
Those of you who collect the Pigtail Prunts Gold Iridescence pieces will surely welcome this fine addition. I'm sure the lucky Buyer will be delighted with their purchase.
