For sale is a lovely vase with a Wonderful Glaze combination made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is called "Carnelian II" and the shape is a Footed Double Handled Urn Shaped Vase. The Vase is has some size as it measures 7" tall and is 7" in diameter outside handles measurement. The foot has a diameter of 3 11/16".
The Vase displays a Wonderful example of this Carnelian II Glaze. There is a deep rich Purple Wisteria Glaze with olive green runs. This glaze drips down into the pot as well as from the top edge and down towards the bottom of the Vase. It swirls into a Dusty Rose Bubble Gum Glaze at the bottom. It is then Marbleized with a lighter hue of Plum, more like Raspberry and Lilac. The Glaze is Goopy and drippy as you can see an feel the thickness around the pot. It kinds of reminds me of Cotton Candy as the Glaze Looks that Yummy. It is accented with Two Applied Art Deco Styled Handles that come of the top lip and reached down to the shoulder.
The vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with Roseville's not so commonly found Black Paper Triangular Label. The Vase does not have any shape number written in a grease pencil. This would be considered Shape Number 331-7 in their Carnelian II Line. This Shape was adapted from the Carnelian I Line. This was not uncommon for Roseville to do this with the Carnelian II line in their earlier production years of this particular pattern. The inside of the Pot shows just how wonderful and Goopy this Glaze really is. There are nice runs of glaze all along the inside top lip.
The piece has an Art Deco Appeal. This Vase is all about the Glaze and Form and this one has it all. This is a great example of this particular glaze and I'm quite sure the buyer will not be disappointed. The Vase was made circa, 1915-1927.
