Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire hen on nest tureen. Modeled as a colorful hen sitting on her eggs on top of a basket. The hen forms the cover, and the ochre glazed basket forms the dish. Stilt marks to underside of dish. Hen: Good. No restoration. A few paint losses to the ground and the hen''s head. Kiln effect: a few shrinkage cracks to interior. Dish: Generally good. Slight rubbing around the rim. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack, staining and kiln detritus to interior. Restored chips to underside and flange. 10ins wide, 7.75ins high
