Chinese blue and white porcelain tureen and cover. Dates to Qianlong period, 1736 - 1795. Measures: 12 inches accross, excluding handles. Approx 7 1/2inches high, including finial. Canted rectangular form with crimped indentations at the corners. Painted with Chinese pagodas / pavilions and rocky outcrops, pine trees and blossoms before a riverscape and birds flying in formation overhead between mountain crags. The sides applied with rabbit head handles. The cover with peonies and chrysanthemums and applied with a pomegranate - shaped finial. One small chip to the pomegranate, but no other chips/cracks/restorations. Provenance: owned by the same Dutch family for hundreds of years and lent to a museum. When the agreement with the museum ended, this item was sold by the family (sold by SOthebys).
