This is a fine broacade tile from the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works founded by Henry Chapman Mercer. It is a Persian inspired flourish of a milkweed pod covered in an egobe green slip. These were made to be grouted into plaster walls and become one of the decorative elements of the house. It is unsigned as are most of the old original antique tiles made by this company.
