This large portrait tile is of Cordelia from the Shakespeare play King Lear. The top of the tile also has the quote '' What shall Cordelia do love and be silent''. It is covered in a lovely blue-green majolica glaze. The back has the impressed marks ''J.G.& J.F.LOW ART TILE WORKS, CHELSEA MASS. U.S.A. COPYRIGHT BY J.G & J.F. LOW 1885'' The condition is very good, in unused condition with only a couple of flakes on the top left and top edge. This is an uncommon tile and in a large size.
