The soft glazes on this tile make it especially pleasing. Self bordered, it shows a bucolic Dutch scene of a canal with a ship and windmill. The tile measures 17'' x 11.5'', and was probably a centerpiece of a large stove. Many of these tiles have an unglazed ''foot'' making them about 3'' thick and unwieldy for display. This tile has this extra bit of clay removed. It is housed in a mahogany finished wood frame, ready to hang on a wall. An impressive and beautiful piece. The condition is excellent, with a few miniscule old flakes on the edge of the tile frame. Status: For Sale Reference#: 04101009 Condition: Art Nouveau Year: c. 1900 Country: Germany (?)
