This large tile by Grueby has an arabesque in the corner, the recesses glazed in a deep dark blue. Intended as a floor tile, the high portions were left in an unglazed red clay so any wear would occur there rather than on the blue color of the background. The tile is unmarked, save for the numbers 820 on an edge. The condition is excellent.
