This wonderful and impressive large antique tile panel is glazed in beautiful clear bright colors. A Persian border encirlces an adaptation of of Asian design, a gnarled branch with blooming flowers. A colorful finchlike bird perches on the branch and watches one of the two butterflies in the picture. The back of the panel has the clear impressed mark ''Maison Pichenot J Loebnitz Successeur Rue des trois Bornes No.7 et Rue Pierre Levee No.4 Paris''. It may have been installed in a piece of furniture at one time since the back clay is nibbled along the edges. There is minor roughness to the front edges and a chip on the bottom corner. The face is unworn and lightly crazed. However, it is still quite impressive that a panel of this size and fagility remains intact. It makes a wonderful and powerful decorating statement.
