These three sets of tiles were used to go on the sides and top of a fireplace. Each of the ten tiles measure 6 inches square. They are made on a thick red faience clay, then covered in a heavy white glaze, and hand painted in a deep blue glaze. The design of dogs and deer lends itself to use in a lodge or Arts and Crafts setting, but the blue and white color is classic and can be used anywhere. These tiles were photograpghed for the four volume set of books American Art Tiles, by Norman Karlson and can be found in Volume 2, page 108. The condition is very good with a few glaze flakes. A rare and axceptional set. Status: For Sale Reference#: 06060310 Condition: very good Year: c. 1940 Country: USA Maker: Mosaic Tile Company Height: 6 in. (15.24 cm) Width: 6 in.
