This large tile was made by the American Olean Company in the 1940''s - 50''s. They were made from earlier designs of the Franklin Tile Company, of Landsdale PA. they were combined with the American Encaustic Tile Company in the 1930''s to become American Olean. These tiles were offered as accents to be used with plain field tile in bathroom installations. The design is in raised lines with minty waxy matte glazes in the colors so popular in the time period. the back is unmarked, coming from new old stock.
