A press molded tile of a lion's head surrounded by a wreath from ESCOYEZ LOUIS À TERTRE ET À HAUTRAGE. The company exhibited at the Columbian Exposition in 1893. this tile is made from a heavy and dense black basalt clay and was most likely used to line the box of a fireplace. The back is marked "TERTRE ESCOYEZ". The condition is very good with some small flakes on edges/ corners.
