This Victorian tile was designed by Arthur Osborne and although this same image can be seen on tiles marked J. and J.G Low, this one is unmarked and was probably made at the Trent Tile Company of Trenton New Jersey. It depicts an old bearded Jewish man in a yamulke. It is known in the trade as the Shylock tile. Molded in a very high relief, the condition is excellent, with only a tiny nick to the eyebrow.
