Victorian, circa 1880 Majolica teapot in the form of a bird on its nest. The pink breasted bird forms the cover. The nest is embellished with leaves and blossom, which sprout from the rustic branch molded handle. Lilac interior. Cream underside with three stilt marks and a painted mark. Generally good. No restoration. Pot: Small bruise to spout rim. Stained crazing to interior and underside. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack around base. Cover: Bruise to flange. Kiln effects: over glazed manufacture chip to beak tip; steam hole is filled with glaze. 9ins wide, 4.5ins high
