Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica Isle of Man teapot modeled as a three legged bearded Manx sailor sitting on a coil of rope. His third leg sticks out behind him to form the spout. He is holding a flag in his left hand which forms the handle, and his head forms the teapot cover. He wears turquoise trousers, a cobalt blue shirt, a scarf around his neck and a brown hat. Retailed by Broughton of Douglas, Isle of Man 1871-1895. Marks molded into base ''W.BROUGHTON DOUGLAS ISLE OF MAN''. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Kiln effects: glaze run to back of neck; firing crack to beard. Restored chip and flake to hat brim. 8.25ins high, 7.75ins wide
