A Rare Saltglaze Stoneware Teapot in the form of a House. Circa 1745. The teapot in the form of a house is relief moulded depicting a three storied house on one side and a two storied house on the other all surmounted with a tiled roof. The spout is in the form of a bird''s head emerging from a human arm with a hand holding its neck. ;The finial and chimney is also in the form of a bird''s head which is an usual form (see Mountford below). ;On the ground floor two human figures flank the spout. The handle is in the form of a simple loop. Height: 5 1/2 inches. Reference: English Saltglazed Earthenware by Chas. F.
