Lovely majolica charger with grape leaves and vine on a textured gold background. Marked on the back with the number 324 and a clover leaf mark, both incised under the glaze. This type of marking was typical of the German majolica makers, and this one is Baden. There is VERY slight wear on the tips of the leaves, not visible until you feel it with your fingers. The colors of the leaves are gorgeous, with the luminous gold shading through the rich green that is shaded from olive to emerald, there are also beautiful touches of turquoise visible, and the edges are shades to a rich brown. There are two pierced holes in the back base rim for hanging. As I have not found a reference for the makers mark, I have estimated (based on style) this piece to be from the 1940s, but it may be much older.Dimensions: 1.25 inches high x 11 inches diameter, weight: 1.5 lbs.
