English serving platter marked Pountey''s, Bristol - Semi-china. The pattern is Odelburg (makers stamp in blue ink under glaze on the back of the rim) and there are several incised marks stamped into the back : Bristol, 80, LL, and a small 6 sided lozenge shape. Overall this platter is in excellent shape, some small pit marks on the back and three tiny ones on the front, Craquelure of the glaze and some age staining. Transfer printed in a dark blue pattern of violets. The rim is accented by a gold edge, wear of the gold appropriate to age and use. There are no breaks or cracks. This platter is quite rare and a wonderful example of Art Nouveau design and exhibits the graceful curves and stylized grace of the period.
