Victorian 19th century large, heavy meat serving plate with juices well and drainage channels. The pattern is the pretty blue and white Asiatic Pheasants. Maker's mark is M.W & Co, which could be either Morgan Wood & Co, of Burslem in the Staffordshire Potteries, or Massey Wildblood & Co, of Longton, also in the Staffordshire Potteries. Both firms were active circa 1860 to 1880s. Plate measures 50 cm wide, 41 cm deep and 8 cm high. The face of the plate has no damage, just one minor glaze wear. There are just two very old shallow chips at the rear, one of which is on the large foot rim. There is a tight, blind craze hairline to the rear, nothing serious or ugly. Some craze dirt to the rear. A very useful plate around Christmas time, or a stunning display item - it presents very well, one of the best I've seen.
