Large Doulton flow blue and white oval platter or serving dish. The pattern is Madras, with an exotic Eastern scene of ornate pagodas or temples with figures, in a lake. The maker's mark is Doulton, Burslem circa 1886 to 1902 - but is more certainly around the early part of this period, late 1880s. Platter measures 44 cm by 36 cm (17.1/4 inches by 14 inches). Excellent condition, just a few very minor knife marks as befits age. Typical blue tints to the rear. Very heavy and very handsome.
