Magnificent Coalport tray, with irregular shaped rim with twin twig handles, well painted with large central panel from a fable, with characters in conversation by a town, a broken bow at their feet and a man with an arrow in the background, within wide green chequered borders and gilt line rims.
Unmarked, Circa 1870
References: This interesting piece is from a service apparently decorated with scenes depicting fables, and is copied directly from a magnificent Meissen service of the 1780’s.
