Victorian, circa 1880 Wedgwood Majolica plate decorated with a gray lobster on a bed of yellow seaweed. Vegetables and further seaweed molded around the edge. Cream ground. Ochre border around the rim. Cream reverse with painted mark, impressed maker''s mark ''WEDGWOOD'' and three letter date cipher (indistinct). Good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Slight wear to the seaweed, lobster claw and some to the foot. Kiln effect: shrinkage mark to the seaweed on the edge. Restoration to a section of the rim. A few retouched rim flakes. 8.5ins diameter
