Victorian, date ciper for 1879 Wedgwood Majolica Argenta passion flower plate. Decorated with passion flower leaves and buds, and a central passion flower on cream stipple ground. Branch molded rim. Cream reverse with impressed ''WEDGWOOD'' maker''s mark, ''J'', and three letter date cipher ''AIH'' for 1879 inside the foot. Also painted pattern number ''M2781 1/2.''. Good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. Flake to rim. Some wear to the front. Kiln effects: piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior; two small over glazed manufacture chips to the foot. 8.5ins diameter
