Victorian, circa 1880 Majolica asparagus plate decorated with bunches of asparagus tips, laid around two butter wells in the yellow center. Dark pink border running into a turquoise band around the edge. Shaped rim. Cream reverse. Similar piece illustrated on page 147, Massin''s ''Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine'' by Maryse Bottero. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. Some wear to the front. Kiln effect: two small pieces of kiln detritus to the front. Small restored under rim chip. 9.25ins diameter
