A rare and beautiful Worcester James Giles decorated 'Blind Earl' plate, relief moulded with trailing rose buds and leaves. Exquisitely hand painted in the 'Wet Brush' style with butterflies, moths and bugs showing James Giles use of vibrant colours. The scalloped rim highlighted in gold.
A contemporary reference to Giles decoration of Blind Earl wares can be found in the auction catalogue of the sale of his old stock held at Christie's in March 1774. Lot 69 on the 25th March was '...a dessert service with embossed rose bud enemel'd...'
In excellent condition with only minor wear to some enamels on the raised highlights. No chips cracks or restoration. Measures 19 cm diameter
