A large Chinese blue and white kraak charger, Wanli (1573-1619), decorated in the centre with a rock-work garden with plants, flowers and birds. The panelled border decorated with flowers and precious objects. Decorated in three registars of blue, done with bold, quick brushstrokes by a most accomplished hand. Clear glaze with no pitting or cracking. In excellent condition. Some sand pitting and "pad" marks on the bottom, where it sat in the kiln during firing (as is usual with most Wanli porcelain) An excellent decorative piece of beautiful Chinese porcelain.
