Beautiful, like new set of 8 dessert or luncheon plates hand painted and signed by E. Phillips. On a white ground, with a 3/4" band of deep cobalt blue, the scalloped edges are gilt. In the center is a wonderful floral bouquet ringed by an intertwined wreath of gilt and enamelled foliage (today, we would think of DNA!) And between the cobalt band and the wreath are foliate and fruited swags. Sumptuously designed and painted by one of Royal Worcester's principle figures in the early 1900's. These plates were made for Caldwell Company of Philadelphia. The condition is absolutely pristine; no flaws or signs of use. The plates must have been lovingly kept out of harms way. Please note: originally there were 12 of these plates. 1 broke and 3 sold separately; so there are 8 left, which will be sold as a set.
