19th century, French, Sevres or Limoges handpainted plate with a still life of fish, flowers and fruit. 8 7/8inches in diam. Gently scalloped border with gilt rim. Band of chocolate brown along the border with sprays of flowers - each masterfully painted. Pink, blue, yellow and green, very fine detail. The center of the plate has a fabulous still life featuring all the ingredients for a gourmet elegant meal: two fish, a leafy cabbage/lettuce, lemons, parsely, chestnuts and strawberries in the background. Everything needed to make a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful painting. Simply doesn''t get better than this. No known marked. A painted 5 underglaze and impressed mark.
