Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica jardiniere and stand molded as brown bamboo canes with a banana leaf wrapped around the outside of the jardiniere. Pink interior. Drainage hole to base of jardiniere, and three stilt marks on both sides of the stand. Mottled green, brown and cream glazes and three stilt marks to center of stand. Ochre reverse with a painted mark, impressed pattern registration diamond for 17th October 1876, and three stilt marks inside the foot. Generally good. Jardiniere: No restoration. A number of small flakes and some wear to exterior. Three hairlines to drainage hole on underside. Kiln effects: heavy crazing to interior; some glaze pops around drainage hole to interior; brown glaze run to exterior; glaze accumulation and a glaze miss to the base edge. Stand: Two small flakes to rim. Some wear to center. Kiln effects: two over glazed shrinkage lines to rim; some brown glaze run to under rim; glaze miss to the rim. Repaired hairlines to reverse (one visible on the front). 8ins high, 10ins diameter (stand)
