For sale I have a beautiful Art and Crafts Style Bowl made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Mostique" and the form is a Bowl or Planter. The Planter measures 2 13/16" tall and is 7 1/2" in diameter on the outside. The opening measurement is 5 15/16" wide.
The Planter is accented with Indian Stylized Flowers, Vines, Leaves and Berries. There are wonderful Lilac and Sky Blue Flowers set on dark caramel brown branches. The piece is balanced with Blue Berries and Light Olive to Moss Green leaves. The interior of the bowl is done in a deep green waterproofing glaze. This pattern was created to pay Homage to the North American Indian and the patterns seem to vary.
The piece is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There is a very small glaze miss at the rim and is considered factory. There are also a couple of glaze misses on the blue flowers as this is quite common with this Glaze combination from Roseville. This is known as shape number 164-7 in the Roseville Catalog Pages. The piece is unsigned as is the case with the Mostique Pattern Line. The Mostique Pattern Line probably had a paper or foil label at one time.
This Mostique Pattern works splendid with the Mission Arts and Crafts Style of Decor. it would look just wonderful on that Stickley Bookcase. This Planter was made Circa 1915.
